GST Datashop Terms & Conditions
The web portal GST Datashop is technically operated by Beak Consultants GmbH on behalf of the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST). Beak is not the owner of the data, nor responsible for its content. The data is sold by GST and the purchase agreement is concluded between GST and the purchaser.
Beak Consultants GmbH will make reasonable endeavors to ensure that the data you order are delivered immediately after payment. We provide up to 10 download attempts. If the delivery is defective in any way, we will send you a replacement within 7 days.
The GST Datashop Enquiry Service (contact details below) will be happy to help you if you have queries or difficulties in ordering products or have problems with downloads.
Exclusion of Liability
The use of any information provided on this web site on behalf of the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) is at your own risk. Please read any warnings given about the limitations of the information.

All implied conditions relating to the quality or suitability of the information, and all liabilities arising from the supply of the information (including any liability arising in negligence) are excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.
The GST excludes all liability arising from any errors or omissions in any data provided by you, e.g. for executing the payment process. The GST accepts no liability for any loss or damage which may be caused by the condition of the file in which the information is provided to you, and you are expected to operate suitable anti-virus software before open it on your computer system. You are responsible for ensuring that the form of the information you have ordered is compatible with your computer system and need and any other data with which the information is to be used.
The GST draws customers attention to the following considerations that may affect the quality or accuracy of information supplied:
- Scientific observations are made according to the prevailing understanding of the subject at the time. The quality of such observations may be affected by subsequent advances in knowledge, improved methods of interpretation, and better access to sampling locations.
- Raw data may have been transcribed from analogue to digital format, or may have been acquired by means of automated measuring techniques. Although such processes are subjected to quality control to ensure reliability where possible, some raw data may have been processed without human intervention and may in consequence contain undetected errors.
- Details clearly defined and accurately depicted on large-scale maps may be lost when small-scale maps are derived from them.
- Data may be compiled from various sources of information at the GST, including material provided to GST by third parties, and may not have been subject to any verification or other quality control process.
Prices, payment and VAT
Prices quoted on this web site are subject of change without prior notice.
Payments can be made by credit card (VISA, Mastercard) only.
The GST reserves the right not to supply goods to purchasers who have previously defaulted on payment, or where there is reasonable evidence that a fraudulent credit card payment may be involved.
Value Added Tax (VAT) is not charged in accordance with current regulations of the United Republic of Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Data ordered through GST-datashop will be ready for download services immediately after the payment procedure is approved and accepted.
We are sure that the vast majority of potential problems can be resolved by simply contacting the GST-datashop through the indicated Enquiry Service. If, however, you are not satisfied that the problem has been resolved or handled to your satisfaction, you may wish to make a formal complaint. Your complaint can be sent to the GST by post, fax or e-mail. In all cases you should aim to provide as much relevant information as possible so that we can deal with your complaint as promptly as possible. Please also include your contact details in case we need to obtain more details from you.
All complaints should be sent to the GST Enquiry Service (contact details below).
You will receive an acknowledgement within five working days that your complaint has been received. If you do not receive an acknowledgement, please contact the Head of Enquiry Service at the same address.
When acknowledging receipt of your complaint, we will give an indication of how long it will take to send you a detailed response. In most cases, we would aim to provide a detailed response within ten working days. However, this may not always be possible, especially if we need to obtain further information. In these cases, we will keep you fully informed on the progress of your complaint.
In the event of a dispute the contract will be deemed to have been made with the Geological Survey of Tanzania and will therefore be subject to the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
If sections or individual terms of this statement are not legal, no longer or not completely correct, the remaining parts of the document remain unaffected in their content and validity.
The GST datashop is only able to handle enquiries and conduct business matters in English.
We protect your private data. Personal data is used in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act BDSG of Germany and according to the statement in this shop (link to Privacy-Policy).
When you sign in for selection and purchase of our products, we ask you to provide the personal information that we require to provide the service to you.
